How to Glaze Kitchen Cabinets

One of the ways to beautify your kitchen is to give it the antique look. We could start by working on the kitchen cabinets. This could actually make your kitchen look regal and appealing. But then, how can we give that antique look in our cabinets?
The magic word is glaze. Glaze kitchen cabinets and it will create a new look. This is especially of our cabinets look old and used up. Glazing that kitchen cabinet could actually make a difference. Sure it will look older, but in a beautiful way. Furthermore, glazing could give more depth in your kitchen cabinet. The question may be, “How do we glaze kitchen cabinet?” Here is the process on how we could generate that antique look in your kitchen cabinet.
The door of the kitchen cabinet should be detached first before you start glazing. You may unscrew the door very carefully. Remove any part of the cabinet that is possible to detach. It is a rule that we clean the equipment before we paint it. Therefore, you should clean the cabinet first. You may wash the detached part of the cabinet like the door. However, if it had been painted recently you can just clean it with cloth. Thoroughly wipe it clean. If the cabinet needs to washed, make sure it is completely dry before you glaze it. Once it is ready, you can prepare your glaze.
Choose the right color first. If you want it looked antique, you may use brown because it gives softer glazed look. You may also retain the current color of your cabinet. That will also do. Have your paint mixed with a glazing liquid. Glazing liquid is typically milky white. Mix the two materials before you go to the actual cabinet painting. You will not use a brush on this process. You will need a sponge or a piece of textile. When your glaze is thoroughly mixed, dip the piece of cloth or the sponge in the glaze. Rub it to your cabinet in the circular motion. You may do a straight stroke. However, if you started with a circular motion, finish it in a circular motion. Continue the process until you have the whole cabinet covered with glaze.
Once you are done with glazing, leave the detached part of your cabinet in an area where it will be untouched. Let it dry for at least 8 to 9 hours. Make sure it is completely dry before you touch it. Once you are sure that the detached parts of the cabinet are completely dried, re-connect your cabinet. Make sure the screws are tightly attached.
From here, glazing is complete. We can already see the advantage of glaze kitchen cabinets. It will give your kitchen the antique look. It will have a new look. One that could give a smile in you face as you look at it. Make sure you always clean your glazed cabinet so as to retain its’ beautiful, antique but new look.
